Supra-aortic trunks color Doppler

The supra-aortic trunk echo-Doppler (SAT) allows the study of the arteries that supply the brain (carotid and vertebral).


This test is useful for the prevention of stroke, since it allows to rule out atheromatous lesions or plaques of atheroma and allows to make a hemodynamic assessment and to study the blood flow that goes to the brain.

Supra-aortic trunk echo-Doppler has no contraindications.

Supra-aortic trunk echo-Doppler has no risks.
However, vasovagal reactions (hypotension, sweating, heartbeat) are possible.

The execution of this exam does not include preparation rules.
Please bring all your medications or a list of them with doses to your appointment.

The supra-aortic trunk echo-Doppler is performed by applying ultrasound probe in the neck regions allowing to study the vessels that supply the brain.
