Follow-up and programming of Single/Dual chamber(s) Pacemaker/ICD

Single/Dual chamber(s) Pacemaker/ICD are devices connected to one or more leads, which run in the heart cavities or in the subcutis, used in heart rhythm disturbances treatment.

These devices, like all electronic devices, need to be periodically checked.
The check must be carried out at an average frequency of twice a year. Additional checks are performed in case of suspected malfunction or progressive battery depletion.

It is important to check these devices over time for the following reasons:

  • it is necessary to monitor the stimulation and identification parameters of the cardiac electrical activity over time, in order to modify the programming (if necessary), and, so, to guarantee the full functionality of the device, optimize energy consumption and maximize its longevity
  • it is advisable to adapt the device programming to patient clinical needs which, over time, may change

Follow-up and programming of Single/Dual chamber(s) Pacemaker/ICD has no contraindications.

Follow-up and programming of Single/Dual chamber(s) Pacemaker/ICD has no risks.

The execution of this examination does not include preparation rules.

These implantable devices can be checked with a special computer called a programmer, connected to an external telemetry probe, through which it is possible to "interrogate" the device download all the stored data in its memory and modify its programming.
